In this unparalleled training class, you will learn elements common to all OSP projects, along with design techniques for underground, direct-buried and aerial cable plan applications.

You will have an opportunity to apply what you have learned through a series of design scenarios such as route design, media selection, planning, and cost estimation.
Course Objectives

Identify the primary codes and standards associated with outside plant cable installation

Identify grounding and bonding requirements associated with OSP installation

Locate requirements in project documentation, including an RFQ, scope of work, and other information typically established during a site and/or field survey

Identify underground, direct-buried, and aerial sections of a route

Describe the three primary cabling topologies and hybrid topologies

Identify special design considerations

Identify the minimum components of a maintenance plan

Identify the information that is needed to provide a cost estimate

What Are the Prerequisites and Preparation Required?
OSP102 is designed for those who have a minimum of two years of experience in outside plant design and/or installation.

If you do not meet the experience requirements, BICSI strongly recommends that you complete the OSP101: Introduction to Outside Plant Design online course prior to enrolling in OSP102.
Course Materials
All students must purchase the Outside Plant Design Reference Manual (OSPDRM) prior to attending class and bring it with them each day of the class.
The standard is not included in the course fee. Students must also bring a laptop or tablet to class each day.
Can I Earn Credit?
You will earn 35 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for successfully completing the program.
What is the Attendance Policy?
Participation in all originally scheduled days of the program is mandatory in order to receive the certificate of completion and 33 CECs.
Participants who fulfill the attendance requirements will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the program.
